"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived."

– Henry David Thoreau

As a kid, I spent most of my free time in the woods. This love for the woods led me to earn a degree in Forest Resource Management. That allowed me work and play in the woods all the time. For most of my Forestry career, I walked alone in the woods, with just the wildlife for company. I was there to observe what was happening in the forest; how the trees were growing, what was in the understory, how the wildlife affected the landscape and how us humans played a part in the overall health of an area. Sometimes I walked in a grid pattern collecting data and other times I just wandered around looking at my surroundings.

The woods are a special place to me. Sometimes I don't follow the well-worn path into the woods. I relied on paper maps, training and years of experience to take me deep into the forest where very few people have been. I find it very peaceful to sit and ponder the beauty of the woods and all of the hidden wonders you must discover on your own. I love to take time to hear the birds sing their songs of joy, to watch the leaves flutter in the breeze, acting like the wind chimes of the woods, and to notice the scurrying of small animals foraging for a meal. My soul slows down to rest in this natural setting.

My goal is for my photography to inspire you to see, explore, enjoy and protect our natural world. Commercial photography and fine art prints are just some of the services I provide. I invite you to go on an adventure through these images and if one speaks to you, I encourage you to welcome it into your artwork collection.

The photographs in this portfolio have been taken off the beaten path. I want to show you what only a few people get to see. I hope you will be encouraged to walk your own path into the woods and find your own natural setting.
